35th REUNION WEEKEND EVENTS WELL ATTENDED


The Nokomis High School Class Of 1972 celebrated its 35th anniversary in the company of 39 classmates who traveled from various parts of Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Nevada for the reunion events scheduled for the September 7-8, 2007 weekend.
The Friday night cookout crowd enjoyed the nice mild weather with a tour of the Nokomis High School at 6:30 p.m. followed by a pot luck dinner at the Nokomis Lions Park Pavilion. Class President Joe Marley and Steve Janssen grilled burgers and hot dogs for 20 classmates and their spouses as music from the high school era played in the background.
Attending were Diane Anderson, Dan Androskaut, Rick and Debbie Burge, Cindy Ernst, Jo Ann(Guyot)Stauder, Deb (Herzog) Stoddard, Dave and Janet (Hill) Stewart, Bill and Janie(Michael) Ulrey, Steve and Linda(Hill) Michel, John and Susie(Hutson) Galer, Nancy(Keating) Croxton, Bruce Kettelkamp, Tom and Vickie(Kroeger) Detmers, Kevin and Sandy Leitheiser, Carrie Marley, Everett and Kay Miller, Mary(Nichols) Dooley, Pat(Roberts) Schneider, and Tim and Trisha Ruppert.
After the evening wound down and the pavilion was cleaned up, many classmates went to Brenda (Dodson)Clavin's business The Depot to see her and continue visiting.
Although it was raining outside, spirits were high as 37 classmates, spouses, and guests gathered at the Carlinville Best Western on Saturday for an evening of reminiscing, food, music, and dancing.
Class President Joe Marley greeted the crowd and introduced special faculty guest (band director) Norman Rhoades and his wife Mary Ann. After announcements were made, a moment of silence recognized departed classmates Melanie (Grimes) Walton, Neil Johnson, Dave Myers, Gerald Saatkamp, and Dennis Zueck. Arlen Olinger gave the invocation before a roast beef and chicken dinner. A group photo was taken after the meal by John Galer.
